RIVERSIDE CL

MIllhouse, Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria, CA7 8HR

We actually received notification from the C. & M.H. club that we'd been nominated and shortlisted for :        "CL of the year 2023".

But apparently we didn't quite make it to the final.

(Some of our many regular clients have revealed they actually avoid voting for us as they don't want us to get too busy and well known).

JOHN and GILL BELL.

We would love to welcome "you" as a first time guest in 2024, with the hope that the site brings you the same level of pleasure its provided for our previous guests through the many years, since it was created in 1997.

Spring is just around the Corner !!!

It is important that you know that we operate and take our bookings completely independent from the Caravan & Motor-home Club.      Bookings are being taken directly from you, to us.

Currently the C&MH club seem to be having trouble with their phones and IT system.

Please rest assured, ours is working fine, so feel free to communicate and place bookings with us as normal.

Riverside CL

CARAVAN & MOTORHOME Club  CL
Has a large area of lawned grass along the whole length of the river edge, designed for all guests to share and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the riverbank.

Not only do all the well spaced Hardstanding pitches face towards the river, but they are all, (sunny) south facing.
Being a Caravan & Motorhome Club Certificated Location, the five pitches are available exclusively to members only.
Since we opened in 1997, we have had the pleasure of meeting and welcoming many wonderful people to Riverside. Some of them visit the site several times a year and have become close friends to us.

With the passage of time, many of the loyal originals have become too old to continue touring.  Sadly some are no longer with us.

We would love to welcome "you" as a first time guest in 2024, with the hope that the site brings you the same level of pleasure its provided for our previous guests through the many years, since it was created in 1997.
Your chance, just to relax on the riverbank, away from kids, traffic noise and life's timed" hustle & bustle.

Throw away the watch, wind-down, and live along-side the river, and an environment of associated wild-life and nature.
Your chance to escape for a while, from hustle-bustle and monotony, to an environment of peace and tranquillity, alongside friendly people just like you, who cherish the same.
Just sit down and relax at Riverside, and with your patience, minimum movement, and perhaps a few scraps of food, the native wild life will come out to live their daily lives and routines in full view.
The dominating River Caldew and its tributary Beck, (Gillcambon) converge on the site, and are completely open and accessible to site users, and form over half of the perimeter.

         The CL facilities.
On the morning of January 15th 2013,  we were greatly honoured to be joined on site by legendary mountaineer, and author, Sir Chris Bonnington, who officially presented us with a certificate for coming out on top for the CL of the year award, northern England region 2012.

The Caravan & MH Club was officially represented by Area adviser & Field officer Ken Nicholson and his wife Noreen.
Also in attendance was our Parish Council chairman Mr John Foster,  Parish Councillor Philippa Groves & stand-in warden Alison Ostle.
Many thanks to all our 2012 Caravan Club member guests, who voted our CL area, the winner of the Northern England region,
"CL of the Year".

We NEVER directly encourage or invite any member to vote for us,  therefore it came as an absolute complete surprise, and shock to us.

Then afterwards, in order to keep warm on the cold January morning, we were forced to endure a glass of bubbley. (or three)
Caravanning & Motorhoming used to be all about enjoying the great outdoors, and there is no reason why this should change,  even in winter.

The same leavel of freedom cannot be acheived staying in a hotel, and they're not cheap.

The Bowscale Bridleway.
Alfred Wainwright loved the solitude of the Northern Fells area. To read more about Wainwright walks on the Northern Fells, visit these web pages:

The Undeveloped picturesque Northern Fells area of the Lake District National Park is blessed with a network of small quiet roads, which are virtually traffic free, and lend them selves perfectly for the use of  the Cyclist.

This is the road near the small village of Berrier, with Carrock fell as the back-drop.

Only a few miles from this point is the Historic village of Greystoke, which is a popular night stop-off-point for cyclists doing the "Coast to Coast".
Our hamlet of MILLHOUSE & the site,
only (9 miles) 15 minutes from junction 41 of the M6 Motorway.

Mid point, (as the crow flies) between Keswick and the Border city of Carlisle.

Central to the towns of:- Keswick, Carlisle, Penrith, Cockermouth and Wigton.
Nearest Lakes:-  Ullswater, Derwent Water, Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite.

All the above mentioned towns and lakes are within a 30 minute journey from the site.

Pitch fees are from only £30 per night, inclusive of electric hook-up.

WE DO HAVE TO WONDER WHY THE MANY SO-CALLED   "PUB STOPOVERS"   ARE BEING ALLOWED TO USE THEIR CAR PARKS AS AN OVERNIGHT STAY for Motor homes.

Approved Sites have to adhere to stringent spacing and health/safety/sanitary rules.

The Pub Car parks have NON of these stringent spacing, safety and sanitary measures in place.

"Nor do they undergo any form of inspection by any authority".
